I’m not one to shy away from a photographic challenge, in fact I welcome them. But when, at our intital consutlation, Leigh Ann and Gary told me about their plans for their wedding in April, at night, outside, at Mystic Meadows, I was honestly hesitant.
It’s one thing to shoot a wedding at dusk or in a dark chapel, but outside in the cold night of early spring… it promised to be a huge challenge. How do you light the night in a way that is still fresh, unique, and non-repetitive?
Well I may be blowing my own horn here, but I am so happy with the results! We used our usual ultra-fast and flexible lighting system consisting of multiple Nikon SB-800 speed-lights on tripods and took care to use both the available (and yet limited) ambient light to paint an eerie and Gothic yet still romantic portrait of the evening’s events.
I especially loved working with Gary’s mister/smoker (he had a technical name for it, I can’t remember). He’s a video production stud, and he brought some toys to play with, and that was amazing to work with.
Thank you Leigh Ann and Gary for selecting us for your very unique and challenging wedding. I love the results, and I hope we captured your vision for the evening.

These turned out great Tryg!!
