Protect The Irreplaceable!

Upgrade your past portrait session to an “All-Digital Package”!

Own All of Your Digital Files!

The best way to ensure the safe-keeping of your precious photographs is to own all of the digital files, which are included in our “All-Digital Session”.

It’s Never Too Late*!

You can still take advantage of the “All-Digital Package”. Simply pay the difference between your Trraditional session fee and the $700 session fee of the “All-Digital Session”. For example: if you paid $150 for your session, then you would need to pay only $550** towards all of your digital files from that session! ($700-$150=$550).

*Provided that we still have your files. We probably do, though… just have to look…
**Subsequent print orders cannot not apply towards the upgrade price, only the original session fee.

50% OFF prints on all print orders*** after upgrade!

That’s right: your cost for prints is cut in half as an added benefit of upgrading to the “All-Digital Session”. We’ll relaunch your portrait gallery (if expired) with the discount applied to all products!

***New print orders only. Discount cannot apply to print orders placed before upgrade to “All-Digital Session”.

Welcome Back, Kim Harms! We have Newborn Portraits Again!

Like the prodigal sister returning home, our very talented and popular Kim Harms is back with Trystan Photography after a year of spreading her wings under her own studio brand. Kim had been with us for years before she announced she was striking out on her own.

We were so proud of her. She’s a very talented photographer, and she deserved the chance!

Turns out she loves taking photos, not running a business. That’s very understandable. It’s not for everyone.

That’s quite all-right, I don’t mind running a business and Char and I love having her back. She is an amazing person, and an amazing photographer.

Kim’s absolute favorite photo subject are those adorable newborn babies! So, if you’re having a child soon, or if you know someone who is, share this link with them and help Kim have a great Summer Welcome back with Trystan Photography.

Kim will also be photographing families and seniors for Trystan Photography as well. I’ll be updating those galleries soon!

Please help us get the word out by sharing this post on Facebook or Twitter:

Trystan Photography needs your help!

We need your help, or your review to be more specific.

The world of online search has changed, and while www.trystanphotography.com is still searching very strongly on the search engines, Google now lists “local” or “places” listings first before the page ranked sites. We don’t appear on a lot of the local listings!

Which local listings appear is a very complicated combination of factors, but reviews count for a lot. As of right now our local listings on Google don’t have many reviews, if any (especially Denver!).

Could you please take a little time and leave some reviews for us on Google? We are so grateful for your business and your review would be a tremendous help to us.

If you can leave a review in all of the following, you are amazing. If not all, then please leave a review in the following order:

1) Google Places (Portrait and Wedding Clients. Please click “Write a review” 1/2 way down the page):

Denver Clients

Colorado Springs Clients

2) WeddingWire.com (all wedding clients)

3) Facebook (All clients)

The dark-side of digital files…

We do offer a la carte digital files to all of our clientele, and it’s becoming a massive trend across the industry of professional portrait and wedding photography that the clients want the digital files.

We get this! We love the world of digital: sharing on Facebook, ease of use, inexpensive printing through any of the numerous consumer sites and labs out there…

… but that’s the dark-side. Chances are, because consumer labs are so inexpensive, you won’t get the kind of quality print you will get through a professional lab, i.e. Trystan Photography’s lab. But to get that quality, you have to pay the higher prices (in many cases, quite a lot higher!).

But that’s a choice each of our clients have to make. We try to make the pros and cons clear to our clients, and we do try and steer people away from a “purely digital” purchase, however, that is the momentum in our industry, and it’s what clients want today! We don’t fault anyone for wanting the digital files, but there is always a chance for dissappointment if printed elsewhere.

One of our awesome long-time clients just wrote me this morning with this tale of consumer lab woe:

“I do regret having someone else (I think it was Snapfish) print my favorite photo (file) from their session with you, even though I bought the rights to it…But it was not nearly as good quality printing as the other photos I got from you a la carte.  I want you to keep our files, as I will likely want to order a high quality print of that pic from you in the future.  If you’d please just not delete it, I hope I can buy it later on.  Feel free to post my comments on your website about how your print quality is superior.  THANKS.  – Linda”

Thanks, Linda, for your praise of our print quality. However, I do think the trend is moving away from high quality prints. It’s a paradigm shift for photography, and we just need to figure out how we’re going to adapt!

I’m thinking we’re going to make portraits a one-time (high$) flat-fee and include all the finished digital files, combined with a monumental lowering of the print prices through our lab. That way everybody wins: we make profit and the our amazing clients can still have files and affordable pro-quality prints? Thoughts?

Anyone else have a tale of “printing digital files” woe?

The Ropes: Intensive 1-on-1 Training for Wedding Photographers

This individual, one-on-one, full day training is exactly what you need to get your wedding business churning. I’ll be offering certain days for class times between 10/11/2010 and 02/1/2011.

Download the PDF ( http://www.trystanphotography.com/wedding/ropes_web.pdf) for investment details.

From detailed evaluation of your business and pricing strategies, to the secrets of SEO and effective web presence, I’ll give you the foundation to grow your clientele without breaking the bank on marketing.

Our day will also include hands-on learning as I stage for you the most demanding shooting situations and also the worst-case scenarios I’ve encountered at weddings. We’ll discuss techniques and lighting philosophies that will enable you to overcome everything a wedding can throw at you. Armed with all this, you’ll never miss a shot!

I’d prefer to do each full-day class on an individual (one-on-one) basis, but we do have buddy and group rates for “The Ropes”.

Please call 719.359.5520 for details, or write me at trygve@trystanphotography.com.

We have New Portrait Programs: “The Trystan Way” and “The Petite”

What in the world are “The Trystan Way” and “The Petite”?

It’s a revolutionary way to think about fine art photography. They are two portrait programs optimized for the two most pressing demands we’ve seen from our wonderful clientele over the last 6 years:

a) “The Trystan Way” is a guided, hands-on approach to the creation of custom artwork for your home and office.

b)”The Petite” is a fast, affordable, and easy way to get portraits to share online and access to the most popular sizes of standard prints for friends and family.

“The Trystan Way” is a premium service, entirely based around custom quotes for the commissioning of completely unique display art  in the home or office. “The Trysan Way” is the pinnacle of fine art photography. We’ll help you from start to finish, from planning to installing the final piece on the wall.

In this age of digital photography, many aspects of the art and power of photography are becoming lost to more imminent needs such as ease of sharing and access to the digital files. While we will not deny that it is a wonderful thing to share these amazing moments and photos with family and friends all over the world, we feel it is imperative that our clientele still have an option to take advantage of one of the most rewarding and satisfying experiences of fine art photography: the creation of custom art that surpasses mere portraiture and becomes a priceless heirloom for generations to come!

While this service does mean you’ll need to make a more meaningful investment than “The Petite”, it provides each client with expert guided care along every step of the process of creating stunning artwork for the home.

No concept is too aggressive. Dream big and beautiful and become part of “The Trystan Way”. Please visit our pricing page or call us at 719.359.5520 for more details on the “Trystan Way”.

“The Petite” is the best of both worlds: the finest photography, but in a more compact and timely form.” The Petite” is perfect for those who know they won’t want wall portraits, and are interested in standard sizes (from wallets to 8×10′s) or digital files. It includes a Mini-session, online proofing and ordering for two weeks. It’s fast, easy, and (other than the session), done completely from the comfort of your own home!
